David Seal ObituaryDavid Daniel Seal, lovingly known as Dan, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of July 15, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on November 10, 1926, in Delhi, Oklahoma, Dan lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and a legacy of kindness, honesty, and integrity.
He grew up on a farm in Cee Vee, Texas, where he learned the values of hard work, self-reliance, and perseverance-principles that guided him throughout his life.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army from June 1945 to January 1947, stationed in Italy during the final months of World War II. After his military service, he dedicated more than three decades to BNSF Railway, retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service.
On March 11, 1947, Dan married the love of his life, Leta Seal. Together, they shared 78 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, love, and family. Their bond was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them.
Dan and Leta raised two children: David Gregory Seal (wife Barbara Trent Seal) and Debbie Seal Kincanon (husband Garland Eugene Kincanon), who carry on his strength and spirit.
Dan's greatest joy came from his family. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren-Eddie Hall (wife Christine), Laurie Martinez (husband Joel), DeeDee Seal, Jaime Seal, and Jeff Kincanon (wife Andrea)-and never missed an opportunity to tell them how special they were to him. His legacy continues through his 12 great-grandchildren: Ashlee Bright (husband Michael), Jansen Martinez, Harley Davee, Jonathan David Seal, Alyssa Kincanon, Lexi Martinez, Daniel Davee, Jacob Hall (wife Rylea), Alysson Natalio, Anthony Kincanon, Jaxon Wear, and Rylee Wear-and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him endless pride and joy.
Dan grew one of the best gardens in
Childress, Texas, and was known for his love of fishing, playing solitaire and dominoes (especially 42), dancing to country music, and taking road trips. He was a straight shooter-you always knew where you stood with him-but he was also endlessly kind, generous, and deeply devoted to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Paskel Seal and Eula Price Cromwell Seal; and by his siblings O.E. "Mutt" Seal, Fern Cook, Lillie Brandon, Minnie Guilliams, Lila Greenroy, Wanell McNabb, and Reba Seal. He is survived by his loving wife, Leta; three sisters, Mary Sue Buckner of Black Canyon, AZ, Hallie Burns of Paducah, TX, and Sonja Burnett of Decatur, AL; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Dan left this world with the same quiet strength and grace he lived by. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
As a man who stood firm in his values, his life echoed the words of a favorite song: "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything." And stand he did-with strength, conviction, and love.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family will share details once plans are finalized.
