Obituary of David Lee Setters
David Lee Setters, lovingly referred to as "The Redneck" by his wife of 38 years, was born April 30, 1960 in Covington, KY to Milton and Edith Setters.
On New Years Eve 1986, David and Becky were married. Together they raised three girls and, in 2011, he had the honor of meeting his son. Their home always had an open door and they collected bonus children along the way.
For nearly 20 years David knew the joy of being Pap. He loved nothing more than playing with his grandkids, watching them grow, and sneaking them treats from his special stash.
He had a great talent for working with his hands. David was a supervisor at Crane Composite, where he worked from the age of 18, and he poured his soul into his 1986 GMC 2500. He enjoyed building things, like his beloved shed, where he spent hours listening to Hank Williams while smoking and grilling meats. When at rest, David could be found in his chair watching the films of John Wayne or Bruce Lee.
David passed peacefully in his home, on February 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, with the sounds of James Arness as Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke playing gently on the television.
David is preceded in death by his father, Milton, his mother, Edith, and brother, Joey. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, his children, Travis Setter, Destiny Cheri, Stephanie Lee, Elizabeth Edith Gale (Dongkeun), and May (Noah) Bogart, his grandchildren, Tra, Zachariah, Aiden, Eli, Blake, Lavender, Asterius, and Eleanora, his siblings, Carla (Ron) Moore, Larry, Eva Mallory, Bucky, and Nancy, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for David will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 3 pm to 5 pm with his memorial service beginning at 5 pm at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy., Florence, KY 41042.
