LIMA -- David Grant Shambarger born January 17, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, passed Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 81, of heart failure.
It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of our beloved David.
David was the eldest son of the late Louis and Margaret (Moore) Shambarger. He is survived by his siblings: Linda (Glen) Miller, Susan Shambarger, Kathy (John) Hogan, and Stephen (Sharon) Shambarger. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Jeff Shambarger. He was loved by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David attended Shawnee and Apollo schools. He worked many years at Pangles, Rays, and Chiefs Grocery as a packer, until his retirement. David had many interests. He was an avid reader, gardener, and enjoyed singing, playing his keyboard, and dancing to name a few. David brought a lot of joy to our family and to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a gift to us.
David was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 12 – 2 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., with Father David Ross officiating. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Worked with Dave at the Lima Car Wash over 60 years ago. He was a great guy, polite and always had a smile. At Pangles/Chiefs, he never forgot my name and always spoke. He will be missed.

To David´s Family,
In sorrow for your loss, I pray GOD´s Strength be given in great measure to each of you!
My very first job (1968), was at Pangles Mkt; where I worked as a checker, bagger, packer! We worked together for six months, before I moved from Lima! Kind, courteous, always willing to help, dedicated & committed to his job! He was a straight-shooter; "all work & no play!"
Appreciated the opportunity to work with him! His parents taught him well; and he learned it well! A gentle heart...he was a Child of GOD!
