David Shortnacy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana on Feb. 5, 2024.
Dave Shortnacy, aged 81, entered into eternal rest on February 3rd, 2024, in Corsicana, Texas. Born on January 20, 1943, in Gadsden, Alabama to the proud parents Lila and T.C. Shortnacy, he lived a life devoted to family and friends. Dave's journey began in Alabama, but Texas became his home where he enjoyed being outdoors and working on projects of all kinds. He answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1962. After serving in the military, he had a remarkable career at Bell Helicopter where he dedicated thirty-seven years and made many friends dear to his heart.
Dave and former spouse, Sandy Shortnacy, had four wonderful children whom they adored, Kay Lane, Shari Blair, David Shortnacy Jr, and Kevin Shortnacy. He went on to remarry Odette Shortnacy in 1992, the two shared eleven years of bliss before her passing. In December of 2011 he married Susan Shortnacy, a longtime friend. The two shared similar passions and loved their animals, big and small.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lila and T.C. Shortnacy; his brothers, Robert Shortnacy, Billy Shortnacy, Rick Shortnacy and his sister, Mary Cartwright.
Dave is survived by his wife of 12 years, Susan Shortnacy; his four children, Kay Lane, Shari Blair and husband James, David Shortnacy Jr, Kevin Shortnacy; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved dearly and was so proud of.
As we bid farewell to David Lee Shortnacy Sr., we remember a life well-lived. May we always be reminded of his impact on us when we think of great jokes, being a loyal friend, helping those in need and loving others endlessly. Family finds comfort that he is in eternal peace watching over us all.
