David Sieja Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Nov. 30, 2025.
David (Dave) Sieja passed away peacefully on November 27th, Thanksgiving morning. Dave was the youngest of three children born to Ruth and Chester Sieja on January 6, 1965 (60). Dave was born in Saginaw, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth (Wood) and Chester Sieja along with his sister Ann (John) Scott.
Dave moved to Troy, MI in 2011 and lived with his brother's family, becoming a beloved uncle and great-uncle to the family and a caretaker to their dog Charlie. Dave worked as a deck builder and Kroger employee for many years. He started up a bottle-return business using the proceeds to visit his son and friend in Bay City. Dave lovingly helped friends and neighbors walking/caring for dogs, raking leaves and doing odd jobs. Dave was active at Kensington Community Church of Troy, where he served as a greeter and participated in several groups. Dave's faith was very important to him as he prayed for family and friends continually. Dave loved serving others and was very generous to his church, family, neighbors, and friends. He adored people and was happy to see familiar faces at work or on his walks.
Dave loved traveling and hoped to retire in Florida. He visited several times with family and friends and was able to check California off his bucket list in April when he visited his niece. He also traveled to Mackinaw, the UP, and Traverse City with his son and wife who were the apple of his eye.
David is survived by his beloved son, Miquel (Chelsey) of Bay City along with his brother, Tom (Tammy) and stepmother, Marge Sieja. Dave was blessed to have three stepbrothers: Steve (Tracy) Perry, Paul (Deb) Perry and Tom (Ann) Perry. He was the proud uncle to Kyle (Alana) Sieja, Nicole (Joshua) Hernandez, Lindsey (Jonathan) Han and Clarissa Scott. Dave was a doting great uncle to Cole, Olive, Avery and Quincy. Dave is also survived by his Uncle Robert (Susie) and Aunt Julie along with many cherished cousins and friends.
The Sieja family would like to thank the many dear friends and family who sent encouragement through cards, texts, calls, gifts and visits. The outpouring of prayers and support is truly appreciated over the years and especially during this year. We would also like to thank the nurses, doctors and caretakers at The Springs of Rochester Hills and Compassus Hospice for their richness of care and kindness to Dave and our family.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Kensington Community Church or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held at Kensington Community Church (KCC) chapel, Troy on Tuesday, December 9th at 11am. A visitation and celebration of Dave's life will be held at 10am prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow, then a private burial will be held later in Saginaw, MI.
