David Silor Obituary David Lynn Silor, of Claypool, Indiana passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 63. He was a loving son, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
He was born on October 13, 1961, in Birmingham, Alabama to Rebecca Ann (Sharpe) Silor and Harold Lee Silor. Dave graduated from Banks High School in Birmingham in 1980. In 1981 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1986. For a portion of his service, he was stationed in the Philippines for 19 months. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, received the Air Force Training Ribbon, Longevity Service Ribbon, and the Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon.
Dave was a very intelligent man and performed viral vaccine research, as well as conducted microbiological ophthalmic studies for the use of contacts. He was regarded as a subject matter expert in gas plasma, EO, and gamma sterilization along with purified water systems. Dave presently worked as an independent consultant at his business, Silor Consulting LLC since 2016.
He loved nature and spending time outdoors. Over the years a few of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. Dave was also an accomplished marksman and enjoyed being on his tractor and riding his ATV. Overall, the most important part of his life was family, they were the purpose in his life. He married Jana Lynn Clay on October 24, 2008, and they were blessed to have shared 16 years of marriage. Dave always prioritized his family above all else. He could be counted on for always being available, providing his love and support whenever needed. David was a die-hard, lifelong fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team. He lived for Saturdays in the fall, cheering on his team. "Roll Tide"!!!
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jana Silor (Claypool, IN); two sons, Samuel Silor (Warsaw, IN); Joe (Emily) Michelini (Manistee, MI); two daughters, Gabriella (Josh) Wall (Warsaw, IN); and Amber (Brock) Benson (Columbia City, IN). He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Isabella, Oliver, Hannah, Abigail, Jackson and Noah; as well as his mother, Rebecca Silor (Warsaw, IN); and his brother, Bobby (Ginger) Silor (Birmingham, AL). He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Silor.
David's life will be celebrated with a private family service at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by active-duty members of the Air Force Honor Guard, and members of the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. # 1126, both of Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be directed to Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Warsaw, IN 46580; or to the American Heart Association, 6500 Technology Center Drive, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
