David H. Simpson passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 76. Born August 17, 1949, in Gallatin, he was the son of the late H.B. Simpson, Jr. and Edna Lorraine Moody Link.
David was a proud graduate of Gallatin High School, where he completed his education as a member of the class of 1969. Following his high school years, he served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he excelled as a chinook helicopter mechanic.
Throughout his life, David found joy in various pursuits. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed shooting pool in his leisure time. A passionate sports fan, he never missed an opportunity to keep up with the NFL, as well as University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt Football games.
David is survived by his beloved brothers, Glenn (Cathy) Simpson and Larry Simpson, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
His life will be honored with visitation at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin on Tuesday, February 3, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service officiated by Chaplain Travis Rose will follow the next day, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, with burial to take place with military graveside honors at Gallatin City Cemetery.
David will be remembered not only for his devoted military service and his love for family and friends but also for the warmth and kindness he shared with all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever be a cherished part of the lives he touched.
