David Levon Smith, age 77, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents Tas and Mary Smith. He passed away on February 23, 2025, at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Corsicana, TX.
After graduating from high school in Baton Rouge, David enlisted in the Air Force, and achieved the rank of sergeant, proudly serving as an aircraft mechanic. Upon his return to civilian life, he settled in Corsicana, embarking on a successful career as the owner of his own trucking company. He later worked as the Circulation Manager for the Corsicana Daily Sun, where he made lasting connections within the community.
David was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Suzanne and an infant son, and second wife Laura. He leaves a brother Carl, son Michael, daughter Kristen, and grandson Aiden as well as several first cousins.
David was always grateful to say he knew Jesus well. He enjoyed being a Texas cowboy, and a fishing pole often called his name. He is now reunited with his Savior and loved ones and friends who have gone to heaven before him. He will be fondly remembered for his strong faith, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. His full military funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 1:15pm, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with the honor he so greatly deserves.
