David Earl Smith, age 73, of Bedford, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 while vacationing in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born on March 31, 1952 in Bedford, the son of Orville William and Edith (May) Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Trimble County High School, Class of 1971, and was an assistant foreman for the Kentucky Highway Department.
His memberships included the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of the Living God, Bedford. He enjoyed farming - especially his cattle and raising tobacco – camping with his family at Trailwood Lake, and his family, especially his grandchildren.
His surviving family includes his wife, the former Rhonda Harmon; one daughter and son-in-law: Stacy and Steven Liter, of Bedford; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Latoya Smith of Bedford; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Nancy Smith of Bedford; four grandchildren: Colton Smith, Keton Smith, Halle Liter and Heather Payton and her husband Ray, all of Bedford; one great granddaughter: Raelynn Payton of Bedford; three sisters-in-law: Connie Kemper and Janice Smith, both of Bedford, and Lisa Chandler of Carrollton, Kentucky; and one brother-in-law, Rick Harmon and his wife, Cindy of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Wayne Smith.
The Reverend Jim Stewart will conduct the funeral services.
