David Wayne Snyder, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024.
David was born September 14, 1927 in Williamsport, PA, son of the late Martha and Donald Snyder. He was married to M. Carol "Skip" Snyder for 71 years and they were inseparable until her passing in 2022.
After graduating from Ridgeway High School in 1945 Dave enlisted in the Navy. When WWII ended he earned his degree in Industrial Engineering at Grove City College. He worked for Allegheny Ludlum, Stromberg Carlson, and Aeolian American before opening Dewey-Snyder Hardware Store. He was a 30+ year contractor of Gannett Newspaper.
Dave was instrumental in reviving Cub Scout Troop #152. He received The Phil Feldman Award in the 70's for his outstanding volunteer contributions to Brighton Little League. He enjoyed camping, remodeling, dancing and coaching. As a 60 year member of Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church he served as an Elder and Deacon.
A humble, thoughtful man Dave was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was committed to his faith, family and friends. We will all miss his sense of humor.
In addition to his parents and wife, Skip, he was predeceased by his brother Donn Snyder. He is survived by his children Wayne (Sylvia), Marlynn Butler, William (Carol), and Donald, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephew.
The family thanks the staff at St Ann's Home for the care given to their father.
David's Memorial Service will be on Friday July 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Chapel, 1500 Portland Ave, Rochester, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church, St Jude, or Annie's Angels at St. Ann's (donations to the Angel Fund enrich residents' everyday lives, helping those who could not otherwise afford simple pleasures like lunch out with friends, new clothes, or a special outing).
