In Loving Memory of Br. David Sommer, S.T.

With deep sorrow, yet with firm hope in the Resurrection, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Br. David Sommer, S.T. A faithful servant of Christ and a devoted member of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, Brother Dave spent more than five decades living his vocation with humility, dedication, and joy.

Professing his Perpetual Vows as a Brother of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity on September 5, 1971, Brother Dave faithfully embraced his call to religious life and missionary service. His life was marked by quiet generosity, steadfast prayer, deep devotion to the Eucharist, and a joyful dedication to God's people.

Over the years, his missionary service took him among Native American communities, into the mountains of Appalachia, and to the John XXIII Center in Alabama, where he helped provide food and support to families in need. Wherever he was sent, he served with steady humility and compassionate care, reflecting the love of Christ in both word and action.

Most recently, Brother Dave served at the Shrine of St. Joseph, where he made each person feel seen, heard, and valued. Those who encountered him experienced his kindness, attentive listening, and sincere love for the Lord. Whether in ministry, community life, or simple daily conversations, he embodied the spirit of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity and witnessed to the Gospel with authenticity and warmth.

We give thanks to God for the gift of his vocation and for the many lives he touched through his faithfulness and gentle presence.

Though our hearts grieve his loss, we trust in the promise of eternal life and commend him to the loving mercy of God.

A Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 5:30 p.m.

Please join us in praying for the repose of Brother Dave's soul, for his family, and for all who mourn him:

"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace."

May he now share in the joy of the Lord whom he served so faithfully.
