David Miller Spaulding

David Miller Spaulding, a loving partner, devoted father, cherished "Pop-Pop," and skilled registered nurse, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 18, 1956, David was known for his witty humor, unwavering loyalty, and the deep compassion he brought to every role in his life.

A proud graduate of Brainerd High School in 1974, David went on to earn his degree in Registered Nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the spring of 1986. His career was a testament to his caring nature, beginning in nursing homes before settling in Chattanooga. David served as the Head Nurse at Moccasin Bend Mental Health for about ten years. Following a period of travel nursing, David chose to remain close to home after the birth of his first grandchild, dedicating his final years to providing comfort and care with Hospice of Chattanooga until his retirement.

Though he took great pride in his nursing career, David often said his true vocation was being a dad. He was, as his children attest, the best dad ever.

Outside of his work, David was a man of diverse passions. An artist at heart, he expressed his creativity through drawing and beautiful stained glass work. He was a dedicated fan of Tennessee football and found joy in the music of rock 'n' roll. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family. His infectious personality-often described as hilarious, quick-witted, sarcastic, and the best friend you could ever ask for-ensured that laughter was always abundant when David was around.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Spaulding, and his mother, Carol Varner.

David is survived by his beloved life partner, Kim Loveless; his daughter, Allison Williams (partner Autumn Morgan); and his son, Adam Spaulding. He was a loving "Pop-Pop" to his two granddaughters, Charleigh Taylor and Jaida Tate. He is also survived by his siblings, Herb Spaulding (spouse Gail) and Elizabeth Yood (spouse Steve).

The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to his dedicated caregiver, Becky Branum, for the exceptional care and kindness she provided to David over the last eight months.
