David H. Spence

David Howard Spence, age 88, passed away on January 6, 2025, in Hale, MI. He was born on September 7, 1936, to Howard and Lillian (Bricken) Spence in Flint, MI. After graduating from Central High School, David attended trade school. He became a journeyman die maker for the automotive industry, working for Chevrolet for 38 years. David married the love of his life, Helen Marie Ackerman, on September 29, 1956. They raised their family in Flint until moving to Hale, MI in 1995. David enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards with family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; his children: Denise Murdoch, Mark (Teresa) Spence, Nancy (Jeff) Davis, and Jennifer (Matthew) McDougall; grandchildren: Hannah Murdoch, Kate Murdoch, Joylynn McLane, Chris (Heather) McLane, Dustin Howes, Paige (Hayden) Wiegel, Joshua (Alison) Davis, Emily (Fiore) Bertoni, Abigail Davis, Jacob Davis, Lauren Skidmore; great grandchildren: Benjamin and Eleanor Wiegel, Avacyn Bertoni, Bella Collier, Bre McLane; as well as many nieces and nephews. A service will be held on January 9, 2025 at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery.
