David E. Spragg, 75, of Zanesville, died at 1:58 A.M. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison-House. He was born March 1, 1950, in Zanesville, a son of the late Eldred and Kathleen (Shoyer) Spragg. Dave lived a life of service, as a Veteran of the United States Air Force and also dedicated his time for 21 years to the Zanesville Fire Department. Dave owned and operated his own construction company “Dave’s Builders” from 1996-2022. He was well known for his craftsmanship, woodworking, and cabinets that he built in his shop. Dave loved going to car shows and was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Orwig) Spragg, whom he married on April 11, 1970; a daughter, Janet Spragg; brothers, Bill (Kathy) Spragg, Mickey (Genette) Spragg, and Mark (Julie) Spragg; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Sherry) Orwig and Wayne (Patti Shrock) Orwig; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Genesis Hospital and Genesis Hospice Morrison-House for their compassionate care and service.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with Rev. Laureen Roe officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora. Military Honors will be accorded to him by the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and Last Alarm will be conducted by the Zanesville Fire Department.
