He was always physically fit and enjoyed running, basketball, and bike riding. His most ardent pastime was his vegetable garden. He was mostly proud of his tomatoes and giant gourds. He kept a beautiful yard.

His great joy in life were his children, Rachel and Adam and two grandsons. He was a wonderful daddy, always playing with his children, willing to do anything for them, he was a loved "Papa", doting on his little Theo, 7, and Grant, 5.

He was a devoted Christian, and lived a giving an loving life. He was a deacon and elder in the Southport Presbyterian Church, the last twenty years serving as the Clerk of Session.

He lived his final eight years with stage four prostate cancer, but died after brain surgery for a brain bleed.

His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Melanie; his daughter, Rachel Burch, son-in-law, Mark; son, Adam Steiner, daughter-in-law, Kendal, and grandsons, Theodor and Grant Steiner.
