David U. Stettler, 92, passed away on April 13, 2025, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Born on December 24, 1932, in Petaluma, California, to Hugo Stettler and Helen Robert, David lived a full and vibrant life rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and connection.
A skilled craftsman, David had a lifelong passion for woodworking that was evident in every piece he created. From building boats to crafting heartfelt gifts, his work reflected the care and patience of a man who found beauty in the details. He brought that same thoughtful spirit to his many interests-sailing boats, coaching baseball, reading, listening to music, and riding his motorcycle. Whatever David was doing, he found joy in it-and in the people around him. He never met a stranger, and his warm, sociable nature left a lasting impression wherever he went.
David had an adventurous spirit and a relentless drive to leap into new experiences whole heartedly. He rarely paused to consider the consequences, risks, or even an exit strategy. Alongside his daring nature, he carried a deep love for animals. His pets all became an integral part of his life. He didn't just love animals; he seemed to understand them, forming a companionship that couldn't be broken.
Above all, David was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, whose loyalty and warmth left a lasting legacy. He is survived by his sons- Ken Stettler, Robert Stettler and wife Jan, and David Stettler, and wife Vanessa; stepchildren- Maureen and husband Steve, and Stephanie; grandchildren- Yvonne (Kenny), Martin (Jinny), Whitney (Sachi), Kensington, Kaitlyn (John), Seth, and Rebecca; great grandchildren- Danyel Church, Grant Lasserre (Abby), and Haya; and great great grandchildren- Daylyn and Wayland Lasserre; as well as his niece, Heidi Hagler and her husband, Chris, as well as their children Justin and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Riordan; step children- Mike Riordan and Pat Riordan.
Ride on, David. Your song will play on in our hearts forever. Send flowers to the service of David U. Stettler
