David Stinson Obituary

David will forever be remembered as a great father, whose greatest joy was teaching and watching his son excel in sports. A true "Vol for life", his spirited contributions as a celebrated caller on the Tony Basilio Show, brought joy to many.
David was a graduate of Jefferson County High School in 1981 and was a member of the only baseball team to finish conference play undefeated in the Inter Mountain Athletic Conference. He continued his education at Draughons Junior College as a baseball player and at Devry University in Atlanta, Georgia, earning his Bachelor's degree in computer science. After graduating, he enjoyed his work in IT for many years and later joined his brother Warren at the dentist office.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Grant Stinson; father, Robert Stinson; childhood best-friend, Jeff Thompson; and his best dog, Montana.
Davids legacy lives on through his son, Wade (Madison) Stinson; two adored grandsons, Leo Ryder Stinson and Ace River Stinson; mother of son, Pam McKnight; brothers, Robert (Jan) Stinson, John (Yan Joao Song) Stinson, Chris Maples, Beth (Sam) Bays, Woody (Cheryl) Stinson, Warren (Tanya) Stinson; special nephews, Ethan, Joel and Eli Stinson; best friend, Kevin Feltner; his companion of 20 years, Vicki Stinson.
David had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, and never met a stranger. His warmth and generosity touched countless lives, leaving behind a host of friends and family who will deeply miss him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10th at 10am -12:00 prior to service/celebration of life at Fielden Funeral Home, New Market with Rev. Bo Stoutt officiating. Interment to immediately follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stinson family.

I never met Geeker unfortunately. Even though his calls and opinions were sometimes a little out there that´s what made him a legend on sports talk radio. I already miss hearing him on Basilio and thinking about the upcoming football and basketball seasons without GQF calls is really sad. He will be greatly missed, prayers to his son and family.

My condolences to the family. David was so passionate, kind, and one of the funniest people I have ever met. Wade is one of my best friends and I´ll always remember how kind David was to me when I was a kid hanging out at their house. He will be missed by so many but his spirit will carry on with Wade

My condolences to the family. I live in SC and I didn't know him personally. However, I always enjoyed listening to his calls on Basilio's show and the Drive. I can't count how many times his called perked me up during an annoying work day.
