David Stoner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Mill Street on Mar. 18, 2026.
David Michael Stoner, 69, of New Castle died peacefully the afternoon of Saturday, March 14, 2026 after losing his nearly lifelong battle with severe illnesses. Born October 14, 1956, he was the son of the late Anthony and Susie Galassi Stoner. He was formerly married to Terri Marino for more than 30 years and together they raised two children.

David started his professional career at the age of 15 cutting meat at Dave's Supermarket on the Southside of New Castle. He spent many years working as a meat cutter and managing the meat departments for Giant Eagle. David spent the latter half of his career working in sales, capitalizing on his strong ability to make and maintain relationships.

David enjoyed cooking for family and friends, sharing recipes, and offering advice on the best cut of meat to buy. David was grateful for his companion of the last 8 years, Sherry Paolini, who welcomed him into her family and cared for him. Over the last four years, David spent most days calling and Face Timing his grandsons so he can spend time with them, always keeping up with their lives and milestones. They were his greatest joy.

David is survived by his son, Samuel David Stoner, daughter, Katie Rose Stoner (Jordan Howard) both of Maryland; two grandsons, Joseph Martin Howard and Jack Rosen Howard; former wife, Terri Marino; two siblings, Susan (Bob) Boyle and Anthony (Lynda) Stoner; companion Sherry Paolini; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his stepmother, Loraine Stoner and three siblings, Toni Marie Pezzone, Frank Stoner, and William Stoner.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 30th 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Family and Friends will meet on Tuesday, March 31st, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate. Burial will be at St. Vitus Cemetery.
