David Streb Obituary
David was born March 20, 1947, in Rochester, and was a son of James F. and Rita Hamel Streb. On Oct. 15, 1966, in Rochester, he married his wife of 54 years, Jacklyn A. Wiedrich, who survives.
David was a 1965 graduate of East High School in Rochester.
He began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and mail processing supervisor in Rochester. David served in the U.S. Army from May 8, 1967 to April 16, 1969. After his service, he worked for the Postal Service as a postmaster in Scottsville, Spencerport and Olean until 1982. David then went to work as the vice president of sales and marketing for Quaker Boy until his retirement in 2015.
David was a life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the National Rifle Association.
He was an avid sportsmen, who loved to hunt and be outdoors. David also loved playing poker or any card game and playing pool.
Along with his wife, Jacklyn A. Streb, David is survived by two brothers, Thomas Streb of West Bloomfield and Gerald (Tina Mullen) Streb of Rochester; two sisters, Jeanette (Richard) Sattora of Rush and Mary Louise Streb of Rochester; a brother-in-law, Elmer Adkins; two nieces, Emily (Chris Russo) Streb of Laconia, N.H. and Sarah (Niall) Rolland of Scotland; three nephews, Mark (Corinne) Adkins of Benson, Ariz., Jeff (Lisa) Sattora of Liverpool and Chris (Sarah) Sattora of Clayton, N.C.; a very special grand-niece, Reya Adkins; a godson, Sean Stagles of Rochester; and special extended family, Danny Owens of the U.S. Army in Hawaii, Tayler Rogers of Portville, Tony, Nicole and Hunter Williams of Cuba, Mark and Mary Lee Wenke of Olean, and Ray and Gail Feuchter of Portville.
David was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Susanne Adkins.
A memorial service will be held at a future date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, your.nwtf.org/donate/.

It was a joy to work with Dave. He was an outstanding character and always lightened our days on his regular visits to see us Canucks at EOSI. He was part of our heritage and truly will be missed.

Jackie, bad news usually travels fast and I don't generally go looking for it. A call from Don C. broke the sad news to me. So many memories going back to the '70's come to mind. It was our mutual love of the outdoors that established our friendship. Dave always had a logical, level-headed approach in whatever he did.
I think back to to running our dogs, Bracie and Misty together. Raising the pheasants at Al's and enjoying the game dinners at the farm house. Working on turkey Federation activities with a great group of people. He had a positive effect on everyone that knew him.
Please know that my tears say what my words cannot. The only bad thing that he ever did was move so far away. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I did not know David personally, but I wanted to express my sincere condolences to his family. His Mom was my Mom's first cousin. I remember her mentioning Rita Streb over the years.

I had the privilege of working with Dave when he was Postmaster in Spencerport. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. He mentored me for that short period of time, and I went on to become a Postmaster as well. He was loved by all the employees he ever managed. I was surprised when he left the USPS, but I knew how important hunting, especially turkeys, meant to him. The job at Quaker Boy was a dream for him. Rest in peace Dave, and thanks for the great memories.
