David Stripland (Strip) went to be with the Lord on November 12,2021. He was born on February 16, 1946 to Ruth and Fred Stripland. David was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. He graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1964 and loved the Bulldogs! David was saved and baptized at Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he was a member for 64 years. David will be remembered as a generous servant who was eager to spread God's word. David participated in the visitation ministry, went on mission trips, helped with funding for the church bus ministry and the annual church camp.
David felt so blessed to have such a loving church family. He loved singing in the choir, going to church camp, Vacation Bible School, revivals and church services. David's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved beign surrounded by his family while going on camping trips, vacationing at the beach, and parties at Nanny Ruth and Clinton's cabin.
David loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles. He felt very blessed to be able to make a living doing something he loved. David worked for big dealerships for over twenty years. In 1996, David opened Stripland Motor Company where he served the community with affordable used cars, often helping disadvantaged people get a fresh start with a vehicle. For several years, he donated a vehicle every year to the Head Start for single mothers who had no transportation to get their children to school.
David was a kind, compassionate man who was loved by all who knew him. His friends, "The Neutered Hogs," have been like family. They've enjoyed motorcycle trips, gatherings, birthdays and lots of memories of Bike Week in Daytona and trips to the mountains.
David was a loving husband to Paulette, his devoted wife of 44 years. Together they raised four children who blessed them with eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He loved his children very much and took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette; children, Lori Stripland, Joseph (Bethany) Stripland, and Leslie (Stephen) Maddox, sister, Sandra (Robert) Ingram and brother, Allen Stripland. He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jess (Ben) Watson and their children Will and Cali; Charlie Abernathy; Becca Abernathy; Caroline Abernathy; Destiny Maddox; Luke Shirley; Sam Stripland; Emma Grace Stripland; Madison Estes; Camden Estes, and Connor Stripland. David and Paulette want to express gratitude to their "adopted" grandsons Will and Hamp Weaver, who have certainly become a part of their family. David was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Carter, Clinton Carter; son, Richard Case; granddaughter, Alex Hill.
A special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Angels Assist Personal Care, who have ensured that David was comfortable and well taken care of in the last year of his life. David was loved and cared for by his chosen family of Jammie and Lee Fortner, Renee and Zack Byrd. We are forever grateful that God brought these special people into our family. The family would also like to thank the loving workers of Agape Hospice who have been wonderful in ministering to David's physical and spiritual needs on this difficult journey.
