David W. Stroud, 87, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on March 4, 1935 to the late Edgar and Nancy Pearl Stroud (Wininger) in Valeene, Indiana. David honorably served his country in the United States Army. On September 16, 1960 he married his life partner, Judith Denton. David retired from C. Lee Cook after 37 years of service to the company. He spent his retirement years fishing, woodworking and enjoying his family. David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sellersburg and the American Legion Post 204. He was a gentle and kind person who loved to make people laugh. David loved to see a job well done and despite his hearing disability, he was always very cheerful. He will be remembered as the best husband, dad, grandpa, papaw and great grandpa. David was preceded in death by his 8 siblings, Thomas, Robert, Ezra, Fern, Lois, Lucille, Clyde and Lawrence.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Stroud, his daughter, Laura Ann Morey and his grandchildren, Dustin Richmond and Camille Schmitt. David also leaves 6 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana). A graveside service will be held at 2:45 P.M. on Saturday at Hardinsburg Cemetery in Hardinsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
