David Glenn Swaim, 88, of Leonia, NJ, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Saturday, September 13, 2025, at home with Carole, his loving wife, by his side. He was born on July 29, 1937, to Lloyd and Miriam Swaim of New Jersey.
David was a schoolteacher who taught math and science for 43 years. He was a committed husband and loving father. Dave loved his life and had many interesting hobbies including baseball and the Mets, Fred Waring at Christmastime, and vacationing in the mountains. He played tennis, ping pong and enjoyed walking and jogging. He coached girls' tennis and cross-country. In his early days he loved biking and walking the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore. The direction of his life dramatically changed when Dave accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Lehigh University, freshman year. He became an ardent gospel preacher and Bible teacher, serving as an elder at Central Bible Chapel in Palisades Park. David regularly sang solos and duets with Carole at churches and events. He had a heart for people and was active in many Christian ministries, including home Bible studies, Pine Bush Bible Camp, speaking at NYC missions and children's outreaches such as Baseball-in-the-Park, Vacation Bible School, and B&G Club.
David is survived by his wife Carole, his seven children & spouses: Thomas/Carol, Stephen/Lois, David/Ellen, Mark/Tami, Linda, Deborah/Rob, Janet/Rich, and his 23 grandchildren & spouses: Caleb, Hannah/Daniel, Nathan, Jacob/Annika, Colin/Arianna, Christian/Michaela, Corbin, Josiah, Jesse, Meghan, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Joshua, Zachary, Elliot, Joel, Daniel, Moriah, Tyler, Emily, Haylie, and Caden! Granddaughter #23 Madison Lee is now sitting in her grandpa's lap. David has two great grandchildren Elianna and Hazel. He is also survived by his brother and sister & their families Lloyd/Ann and Donna/Dave and their children.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening September 24th 6-8 p.m. with the Funeral service Thursday morning September 25 th at 10 a.m. (Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ave, Ridgefield NJ), followed by interment (Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt Airy Rd, Basking Ridge).
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give to me at that Day."
