David Swan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - Brookfield on Dec. 10, 2025.
David William Swan of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 at the age of 85.

Born on October 1, 1940, David spent all 85 years of his life on Swan View Farm, land cherished by generations of his family and lovingly tended by his own hands. Deeply rooted in Pewaukee, he built a life centered on faith, family, farming, and service to his community.

For 63 years, David shared a devoted and enduring marriage with his wife, Barbara. David was preceded in death by their beloved son Brad Swan, as well as his parents, Frances "Frannie" and William Swan.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is also survived by his son Bill (Tracy) Swan and daughter-in-law Cheryl Swan, along with his sister Susie (Melvin) Heimark. David was a proud and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren Andi (Aaron) Schuett, Casey (Jake) Tetzlaff, Ashley (Drew) Schaefer, Taylor (Colin) Peters, Jordyn (Charlie) Fischer, Brandon Swan, McKayla (Jared) DeMunbrun and Matthew Swan. He treasured every moment spent with them. His joy multiplied as he became a great-grandfather to Breyson, Sawyer, Ainsley, Quinn, Charlie, Colter, Leven, and Sutton, with two more little ones eagerly awaited.

David devoted his life to farming on the 120-acre Swan family farm in Pewaukee. He raised milking cows, steers, pigs, and chickens, embracing every aspect of farm life with dedication and pride. His love for agriculture began early. He spent many years in 4-H as a young adult, showing animals at both the Waukesha County Fair and the Wisconsin State Fair. That passion continued throughout his life as he supported his children and grandchildren in their own 4-H activities and in showing animals at the County Fair. One of his greatest joys was passing down the traditions of the farm to his grandchildren; teaching them to care for animals, understand the land, and embrace the values of hard work, responsibility, and family heritage.

Beyond farming, David committed 36 years to teaching science at Arrowhead High School, inspiring countless students to see the science in the world around them.

David also served his community with a full and generous heart. He was a longtime member of the Waukesha County Board and served as the Waukesha County Board Supervisor, he also served on Pewaukee Public Works, and was active on the Redeemer UCC Church Council. He worked in real estate with Wauwatosa Realty and participated in the Waukesha County Farm Bureau, lending his time, experience, and wisdom wherever it was needed. He valued time spent with friends, whether over a deck of cards, or spending time with life-long friends in Canada fishing every summer or enjoying memorable trips with the entire family: he built many meaningful relationships throughout his life.

David's celebration will be held on December 29, 2025, at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin. Visitation from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM with service immediately following at 12:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor a remarkable man whose legacy of love, service, and devotion to family and community will carry on in all who knew him.

A private family burial will follow.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Brad Swan Memorial Scholarship Fund with checks payable to "Swan Memorial Scholarship Fund."
