DAVID BIBB Obituary

DAVID THOMAS (DAVE) BIBB II
January 28, 1942 - July 20, 2025
David Thomas (Dave) Bibb II passed away on July 20, 2025. Born in Las Vegas, NM, Dave lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and creativity. He earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music from New Mexico Highlands University.
In 1963, Dave married Mary Kay Bird, whom he had introduced himself to a year prior in the Highlands University swimming pool. They had five children-Mary Beth, David, Jim, Melodee, and Melanie-and created a home filled with love, music, and faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Kay, daughter Melodee, and sisters Bettye, Ruth and Myrtle Bee.
Dave's career the Federal Bureau of Investigation spanned 23 years, serving in offices from New Orleans, Los Angeles, Victorville, CA, and Gallup and Santa Fe, NM. His work on high-profile cases-from kidnappings to counterespionage-reflected his unwavering commitment to justice and integrity. Following his retirement from the FBI, Dave worked for 13 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Security and Intelligence consultant.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dave was a gifted musician. He was a choir director, a singer, and a master of many instruments. His clever wit and disarming humor made him the heartbeat of every room.
Dave is survived by his four children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends he valued as chosen family.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Life Church, 258 Frontage Road, Las Vegas, NM. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery just off New Mexico Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Victory Life Church, https://myvictorylife.com.

Yesterday

My deepest sympathy to the children of Mr. Bibb, especially to Jimmy who was my student. I felt safe in my neighborhood because Mr. Bibb was next door. My son Christian and I really enjoyed this wonderful family. I live in Florida now and had not known Mrs. Bibb had passed, so this is doubly sad. May you be gifted with the blessing of those two angels watching over you.
