Talty, III and wife, Tamara, Michael Talty and wife, Paulette, Shannon Talty and wife, Janice, two grandchildren Michelle and Kelsey Talty and his former wife, Dee Talty and longtime girlfriend Tere Starr. David was born on January 11, 1936 in Providence, Rhode Island to David and Anne Talty. As a teenager, he attended Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA and West Palm Beach High School. At Florida State University, where he majored in Hotel & Restaurant Management, he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, The Collegians (all male chorus) and the famous Flying High Circus. Upon graduation in 1957, he embarked on his lifetime occupation of restaurant management.
After a series of managerial jobs which took him from Pensacola, Miami, San Francisco, he joined the Burger King Corporation in Miami in 1963. He served as Southeast District Manager from Atlanta for a couple of years before being named National Director of Operations. At that time, he moved back to Miami, where he has resided for 58 years. In the ensuing years, David and his partner, David Edgerton owned and operated multi locations of their steak house concept, Bodega. He taught restaurant management at Florida International University for 30 years and was an investor and advisor in his son Shannon's successful Olde Hearth Bread Company in Orlando. Van Orsdel of Coral Gables is handling funeral arrangements. A private celebration of David life will be held at a later date.
