David Topper passed away February 5th, 2024 at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. He was the husband of Shirleyann H. (Zuck) Topper. They were married for 71 wonderful years together.
David was born August 10, 1932 in York. He was the son of the late Clarence Topper and Emma (Hess) Topper. He graduated from York Catholic High School in 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean War as Trainee Instructor at Fort Leonard Wood with an Honorable Discharge. He retired from York International after 42 years. He was an usher at St. Rose of Lima for 60 years, and a member of the Vikings Club in West York. He enjoyed working in the yard and traveling. He and his wife visited most of the 50 states and traveled to many foreign countries. They also enjoyed many cruises together.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Beth Warncke and a son David Topper Jr.; a granddaughter Jamie Berger and husband Richard Berger, and a great granddaughter Mariah Reyes. He is also survived by two brothers John Topper and Glen Topper, and a sister May McGurk.
David was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Middleton, son in law Micheal Warncke, sister Mary Stine, and brother Clarence Topper.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am Monday, February 12, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 West Market St. York. Burial will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery with full military rites present by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., West York, is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.act.alz.org
