David E. Tracy, 84, of Winthrop, formerly of Walpole, passed away on Oct. 22, 2024, after a long illness.

Born in Northfield, VT., he was the oldest of three children of the late Elliott and Dorothy (Roberts) Tracy. As a young child, his family moved to Bethany, CT., where he was raised, and attended Amity High School, graduating in 1958. He was a member of the University of Connecticut class of 1962, where he met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Linda (Fisher), at a social held by his fraternity, Theta Xi. It was love at first sight, and the two were married in 1963, eventually settling in Linda’s hometown of Walpole.

After working as an engineer with Raytheon, David decided to return to school to earn his MBA at Northeastern University. He went on to have a long and successful career in corporate finance and held executive positions at a number of Boston-area corporations over the years. Most recently, he was North American Controller for EMC Corp. in Hopkinton before retiring in 2002.

In his retirement, David enjoyed traveling with Linda and volunteered his time helping with finances at the couple’s lifelong spiritual home, The United Church in Walpole. When Linda was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, he readily embraced the role of full-time caregiver as her disease progressed. When David’s own health declined, the couple moved to Winthrop to be closer to family. He was devasted by Linda’s loss in 2021.

He is survived by his siblings Linda Manning and Richard Tracy, both of CT., and his three sons and daughters-in-law: Scott Tracy and Radha Chandra of Berkeley, CA., Gregory and Donis Tracy of Winthrop, and Keith and Karyn Tracy of Pembroke.

He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren: Carmen Hinebaugh and her husband Connor, David and his wife Katie, Mark and his wife Catherine, Julia, Stephen, Maria, Daniel, John, Michael, Sarah, Kyle and Lauren, and the proud great-grandfather of 3: Eliana Rae, Gabriel and Ezra.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend David’s Life Celebration on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Walpole.
