David Twiggs Obituary

David Q. Twiggs, a dedicated civil servant and military veteran, passed away on September 16, 2023, in Belton, Texas. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX. He was born on May 26, 1939, in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. David lived a remarkable life filled with service and devotion to his country and community.

With a career spanning over two decades, David served as a Maintenance Engineer with the Department of Public Works on Fort Hood. His unwavering commitment to his role earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. David's attention to detail and strong work ethic made a lasting impact on the infrastructure of the base.

Before his civilian career, David served honorably in the United States Army for 21 years. During his military service, he displayed exceptional bravery and received several accolades for his gallantry. Among them were the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Two Meritorious Service Medals, Good Conduct Medal with five loops, Drill Instructor ID Badge, and Numerous Overseas Presidential Citations.

Beyond his professional achievements, David cherished his family and friends dearly. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jutta U. Twiggs, who stood by his side throughout their amazing journey together. Together they built a home filled with love and support.

David was a proud father to two sons: Quinten Twiggs and Stacy Twiggs. His sons brought immense joy to his life and were a constant source of pride for him. He shared in their accomplishments as they grew into fine individuals of their own.

In addition to his children, David treasured the presence of his granddaughters Chelsea Cordova(Max) and Torri Twiggs. Their laughter lit up his world, creating beautiful memories that will forever be cherished. The arrival of great-grandchildren Aiyden, Julien, and Anaya added another layer of happiness to David's life.

Family was always at the center of David's heart. He maintained strong connections with his siblings throughout his life. David is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel V. Young Twiggs, and father, Hobert James Twiggs, and his sisters Jacqueline Tucker, Merri Twiggs, and Barbara Twiggs.

David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jutta; sons, Quinten Twiggs(Tonya), and Stacy Twiggs(Michelle); grandchildren; sister, Loleta Riggin. Additionally, he had three younger brothers: Ray Twiggs, James Twiggs, and Douglas Twiggs, along with Douglas's wife Nancy; brother-in-law, who was like a brother, Alvin Tucker; David treasured the bond he shared with each of them and always found joy in their company.

David's genuine nature and warm spirit endeared him to many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their uncle's love and guidance.

Throughout his lifetime of service and devotion to his country, David Q. Twiggs touched the lives of countless individuals with his kindness and compassion. He will be remembered as a dedicated civil servant, a decorated soldier, and above all else, a loving family man.

May David Q. Twiggs rest in eternal peace, knowing that he made a profound impact on the lives he touched. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him.
