Mr. David W. Brock, Sr., age 74, entered into rest Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2024 at Brock’s Mill Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Jamie Gulledge. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Brock was born August 8, 1949 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Walter J. and Sarah Sweatt Brock. He was a 1968 graduate of Cheraw High School and a retired employee of Cheraw Yarn Mill with over 35 years of service. David was a member of Cheraw Church of God and was the owner and operator of Brock’s Electric – RCR Construction. He and his late wife were also the former owners of Brock’s Seafood of Cheraw for many years. Following the restaurant business, David worked for the City of Hartsville in the Codes Enforcement office. A man who enjoyed working, farming, and cooking, nothing brought him more joy than being addressed as “Pa” or “Pa-Pa” by his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brock was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Linda Wallace Brock on October 30, 2023; and their daughter, Reta “Cissy” Brock Smith.
Survivors include his son, David W. Brock, Jr. and wife, Beth of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Garrett Smith of Murrells Inlet, SC, Liana Brock, Marah Brock, and Riggs Brock all of Chesterfield, SC; son-in-law, Chris Smith of Murrells Inlet, SC; siblings, Gloria “Patsy” (Jim) Leviner of Wallace, SC, Wilbur (Cindy) Brock, and Beverly Brock (Bill) Vaughn both of Cheraw, SC; nephews, Jason, Jay, and Wesley; niece, Tiffany; in addition to numerous great nieces and great nephews; and his faithful pet, “Baxter.”
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to “Moe” Zwiefka, and sister, Beverly Brock Vaughn for their exceptional caregiving support as well as the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield.
