David B. Ward, 74, of East Falmouth passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2026. He was born on March 22,1951, in Princeton, NJ to the late Hermann and Margery Ward.

In addition to being a successful local businessman, "Paint's on Us", David was also known for his keen wit, artistic skill, sailing abilities, and enthusiasm for gardening.

Captain Dave enjoyed spending time sailing in the local waters on his 32' Bristol sailboat "Emily B" and growing vegetables with a variety of flowers showcasing dahlias, in his garden "Solaya", creating one-of-a-kind arrangements which he shared with many. His happiest times were spending time with his family and friends including his many friends of Bill sharing stories and creating lasting memories.

David is remembered by his devoted wife, Alison Ward; his son, Jonathan B. Ward (married to Sarah); his former wife, Sandra Povse; and his grandchildren, Brearley and Elissiana. He is also survived by his siblings Gretchen Ward Warren (Edward Lafontaine); Bonnie Ward Simon; and Michael Ward; brother-in-law Scott Quimby (Jane); and sisters-in-law Melissa Quimby Bird (Faley Harris); Elizabeth Quimby (Jon Myers); and Sara Quimby (Roderick Macdonald); as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David to Friends of Falmouth Dogs, People for Cats, or to a charity of your choice.
