David Wayne Waterman, 73, passed away on July 24, 2025, in the embrace of a loving family, leaving behind a legacy adorned with hard work, dedication, and cherished memories. He was born on October 11, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Irven and Patricia (Buckner) Waterman.

David's journey in education began at Lawrence Central High School, from which he graduated in 1971. Following his graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army. He served for three years, starting at Fort Dix in New Jersey before going to Germany to serve. This experience not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a sense of discipline that remained with him throughout his life. He enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring after 42 years with Schreiber Lumber Company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, David was a man defined by his love for family. He found immense joy in woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and skills. Nothing delighted him more than watching his grandson race cars. David's home was a haven of warmth, filled with laughter and love, especially as he spent quality time with his family. He also held a special affection for his cat, Buddy, who faithfully accompanied him through many cherished moments. David was known and loved by many, leaving behind memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife for over 48 years, Denise Waterman; daughter, Jessica (Charles Kevin) Baldwin; grandson, Riley Baldwin; siblings, Nancy (Tom) Muir, Scott (Connie) Waterman; brother-in-law, Bill (Jackie) Ludlow; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Buddy.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Wayne (Wanda) Ludlow.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage with Pastor Doug Koch officiating. David’s family would like to invite all those who would like to attend to be present. Cremation will take place at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service. There will be a Celebration of Life held from 2:00-5:00 pm, on August 9, 2025, at the Family Life Center located on the West end of the campus of Post Road Christian Church, 1112 N.
