David Earl Watson, Sr. age 86, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, went home to be with The Lord whom he had served for many years. David was born in Helena, Arkansas to the late Earl B. and Evelyn Lanham Watson. He was a graduate of Rossville High School - Class of 1957 and attended Tennessee Temple University. He served his country in the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force and was a proud veteran. He worked many years for Brock Candy Company in Chattanooga, TN. David worked for McKee Foods Corporation and retired after twenty-four years of service. While working at McKee he had the privilege of working alongside his wife and all four children. He was the former Associate Pastor of Hughes Avenue Baptist Church in East Ridge, TN and a current member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church in Chickamauga, GA. He was a lifelong resident of the tri-state area. He supported his children in sports and served as Scout Leader for his sons. David enjoyed working crossword puzzles, jig-saw puzzles, raising chickens, life on his farm in Apison, doing yard work, remodeling and painting his house, and playing with his little Yorkie dogs. David was a devoted husband, supportive father and loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife of almost sixty-six years: Betty Richardson Watson of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, their children: Patty Parrish Board of Chickamauga, GA, David Earl (Robin) Watson, Jr. of Ooltewah, TN, Jeff (Sheila) Watson of Dalton, GA, John (Diane) Watson of Apison, TN, sisters: Dianne (Hershel) Elkins of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Kathy (Eric) Krajesky of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Jeannie (Gregg) Robinson of Chickamauga, GA, nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am – Wednesday – January 21, 2026 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes with Pastors: Joe Lockman and Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens-South, Rossville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Elizabeth Methodist Church Building Fund or Food Pantry at 139 Cove Road - Chickamauga, Georgia 30707. Arrangements by W. L.
