David (Matt) West, 43, passed away January 28 at the VA hospital in Indianapolis, following a long illness. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Matt is survived by his ex-wife, Melissa, father, David L. West, stepmother, Lisa L. West, brother, Michael B. (Charlette) West, grandmother, Juanita L. Moore, a niece, and several nephews, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Moran West.
Matt was proud to serve in the US Marine Corps from 1998 – 2002, achieving the rank of Corporal. He served 3 years in Okinawa, Japan, specializing in Aircraft Crash, Fire, and Rescue for the First Marine Air Wing. Following his service in the Marines, he was a journeyman ironworker at local 22 in Indianapolis. Matt enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on February 10, 2024, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at the VFW Post 908, 3011 S. Lockburn, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Family, friends, and especially Marine brothers are welcome. Semper Fi
