David Charles West, born June 1, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and who passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, with his beloved daughters and granddaughter by his side. David was the cherished son of Charles and Eleanor West. He grew up in Philadelphia and answered the call to serve his country as a mechanic in the United States Air Force, dedicating his early years to service and learning the value of hard work and dedication. After his service, David married the love of his life, Eileen (McDonnell) West. Together, they built a home and a lifetime of memories over 56 wonderful years of marriage. They settled in Warminster, Pennsylvania, and raised two daughters, Michele (Weiler-Fair) and Pamela (Kuhling), providing them with a loving and supportive home. With Eileen, David found not just a partner but his best friend. In the late 1980s, David and Eileen moved their family to Sarasota, Florida, were they shared adventures on there boat, shopping, dancing, throwing parties, taking long walks with his favorite dog, Daisy. There was nothing he enjoyed more than relaxing with a cold beer or Manhattan, always with Eileen by his side. In their later years, their devotion only grew; when Eileen needed care in a nursing home, David demonstrated selfless love, visiting her every afternoon for their cherished ice cream dates. David was a true hard worker, dedicating his career to repairing small engines- and in his spare time home improvement project Eileen had for him. Whether at work or helping out neighbors and friends, he was always willing to lend a hand. Yet, of all his life's roles, none meant more to him than being a father. He cherished every moment with his family, quietly supporting, loving, and guiding them. David was a man of few words who preferred to go with the flow, but his presence spoke volumes: he was steadfast, reliable, and always there for those he loved. David is survived by his daughters Michele Weiler-Fair and Pamela Kuhling; three granddaughters, Candace, Shawna, and Kalyssa; one grandson, Tyler; and three great-grandchildren, David, Charlotte, and Dior. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen E. West. Sisters Barbara Seely, Norma Hernberg and great neice Taylor Leslie. Though David was quiet, his actions spoke of a lifetime of love, hard work, and steadfast devotion to his family. The memory of his gentle spirit, unwavering strength, and loving heart will remain with us always. A military service will be held on Thursday August 14th at 10am at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72 (Clark Road), Sarasota, FL 34241.
