David "DJ" Blaise Wetzel Jr., 40, of Hagerstown, MD, left this world unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in Hagerstown to David Blaise Wetzel Sr. and Mildred Reva Cunningham James, DJ's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, music, and family. DJ's greatest joy was his children. He spoke often of their brilliance, their boundless potential, and the light they brought into his life. Of his youngest daughter, he said she could "light up the darkest days." His pride in them was immeasurable, and his love everlasting. Evan as time changed them and distance grew between them, the love he and his brothers shared stayed rooted deep within their hearts, untouched and everlasting. A creative soul, DJ found happiness in writing songs and singing along with his computer creations. His laugh was unforgettable – one that could fill a room and linger in the hearts of those who heard it. At family gatherings, his presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt. Though he was his own toughest critic, he lived with the burden about his mistakes and found strength in the love of his parents, grandmother, and family. His faith was nurtured by recent conversations with his father and mother and step-father, who adored him. They reminded him to give his burdens to God, because a relationship with God is more important than anything this world has to offer. DJ worked alongside his mother and stepfather as Assistant Manager at Domino's Pizza in Frederick, MD, and most recently as a forklift operator with Hearty Pet in Hagerstown. Besides his parents he is survived by his beloved children: Ciri Marie Athalia Wetzel, Ira Blaise Markwood Wetzel, Zeta Jean Eloise Wetzel, and Dottie Mae Aurelia Wetzel; brothers Michael Blaise Wetzel of Hagerstown and Joshua Blaise Wetzel (Helaina) of Confluence, PA; step-father Ronald Lee James, Sr.; maternal grandmother Frances Lorraine Davis Cunningham; nephew Jude Blaise Wetzel; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Raymond Edward Sr. and Mary Columba Castelucci Wetzel; maternal grandfather Arthur Sylvester Cunningham Jr.; uncles Gary "Butch" Wetzel and Arthur "Sonny" Cunningham III; aunts Debbie Carbaugh and Della Russell; and special cousin Edward Arthur Reynolds. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to establish a trust fund for his children: Mildred James, P.O. Box 826, Funkstown, MD 21734
