It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Jones Weyerman of Hyrum, Utah. David was born in Maeser, Utah on July 4, 1946. He passed away at home May 1, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Olive Weyerman, several of his siblings, his first wife Joyce Faye Weyerman, his son David Scott Weyerman, and his granddaughter Emmaly Grace Weyerman.

He is survived by his second wife Janet Cuch Weyerman, daughter-in-law Trina Weyerman, DaVette Anderson (Shawn), Gregory Weyerman (Cynthia), Brittney Forsberg (Cortney), Natasha Wade (Spencer) and Phillip Weyerman (Arielle). He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

David grew up on a farm in Maeser, Utah with ten siblings. He learned towork the farm, hauling hay and milking cows. When David was around fifteen years old, his family moved to Weston, Idaho. Where he graduated from Preston High School in 1964. He then attended BYU for a year before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Seoul, South Korea from August 30, 1965- March 6, 1968. Shortly after arriving home, he joined the United States Army. While home on leave, he met Joyce, a student at BYU in Provo Utah. They were married on May 23, 1969, in the Logan Utah Temple. Their first son Scott was born January 10, 1970, in Savannah, Georgia. Then in 1971, David was deployed to Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. Upon David's return, the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska where DaVette was born July 3, 1973. At this time David worked as a helicopter pilot for the Alaska Pipeline. Later while still living in Alaska, Joyce traveled to Virginia to be with her mother, due to a di cult pregnancy, where she gave birth to Gregory, their third child. He was born in Danville, Virginia, March 3,1975. Following this time the family moved to Davenport, Iowa for David to attend Palmer Chiropractic School. While there, Brittney was born November 1, 1979. And in keeping with separate birth cities, Natasha was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on August 10, 1983. The family later moved to Idaho where Phillip was born in Nampa, on June 17, 1992.The family later moved to Middleton, Idaho and remained there for twenty-seven years.

Over the years, David was also employed with Woodgrain, the Cleary Building Company and Ferry Morris Seed Company. He loved to garden, work in his woodshop, travel with Joyce, and go on long walks with his dogs. He also loved his time as an ordinance worker in the Meridian Idaho Temple. In January 2021, after Joyce’s death, David moved to Hyrum, Utah to be near Natasha. In October of that same year, he married Janet Cuch. They traveled back and forth from his home in Hyrum to her home in La Point, often.

During his lifetime David served in many callings in the church and served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel for the United States Army followed by the National Guard. He will be greatly missed and laid to rest with full military honors.

The family expresses their extreme gratitude for Enhabit Home Health’s care of David in his final weeks and for all the friends and family who made time to come and visit him as well as Aarons Mortuary.

The funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 455 E 100 S, Hyrum, Utah, Wednesday, May 7, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, May 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. David will then be laid to rest next to Joyce in Hyrum City Cemetery immediately following the services.
