David Whitham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs on Feb. 21, 2024.
David Leroy Whitham, 57 years old, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at North Kansas City Hospital with his wife Laura by his side.
He was born on Thursday, March 24, 1966 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to the late Nelly Louise Whitham and the late Larry Earl Whitham.
David grew up in the projects and from there had many life long friendships. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1984, up graduating David enjoyed spending most of his time with friends, play pool, having some drinks, not mentioning names - Mark Crawford - is who David jokingly always blamed for his love of beer! David loved softball and later in his life loved playing golf with friends. He was an avid KC Chiefs and Oklahoma Sooners fan his entire life.
David was blessed with one son, David Whitham Jr. and his four children, Loretta, Easton, Summer, and Waylon. All of which he loved and was proud of.
David started working at Magna Seating in 1994 where he then met the love of his life, Laura. David and Laura were united in marriage in 2011. They spent 25 years building their lives together.
David was the stepfather to Laura's three children, Dustin Miller, Magen Coursen, and Zachary Coursen. He was the proud Papa to Liz and Lukas Vardy. David proudly loved to watch Liz play volleyball and also watched her become a young mother to baby Ella and still kept her focus to graduate in May. There were two things David wanted to live to see, the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl and Liz to graduate high school this May. Papa will still be there watching you and cheering you on in May, Liz. Lukas played football one year and made the A-Team and Papa couldn't have been more proud.
David worked at Signature Solid up until this cancer diagnosis. He could then be found at home playing ball and spoiling his dog, Blue, who he loved very much.
David was preceded in death by both parents, Nelly Louise Whitham and Larry Earl Whitham, grandparents David Clancy and Marjorie (Anderson) Bush and his beloved Fatter Boy.
Survivors include his wife Laura Whitham of the home and Blue, brothers Daniel Whitham of Excelsior Springs, Duane Whitham of Cameron, and Craig Whitham of Excelsior Springs, son David Whitham Jr. of Montana, grandchildren Loretta Whitham and Easton Whitham of St. Robert's, Summer Whitham of Montana, Liz and Lukas Vardy of Excelsior Springs, and one great granddaughter Ella of Excelsior Springs.
David left so many with great memories and will be truly missed.
