Obituary of David Edward Whitington

Reverend David Whitington, 84, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born on June 26, 1941, to George Leroy and Alice Irene Whitington, he is now joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Rose.

A devoted husband, faithful pastor, and courageous servant of God, Pastor David dedicated more than 50 years to ministry, faithfully shepherding his community in countless ways. He was instrumental in launching the National Day of Prayer in Southlake and was often called upon to offer invocations at civic and Republican events. He held the distinction of being the longest-serving Republican precinct chair in Tarrant County and gave consistent support to local leadership through his work on the Mayor's Advisory Council and his long-standing service as Chaplain for the City of Southlake.

Pastor David was known for his kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering commitment to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry touched lives across generations-leading many to faith, especially children who grew up under his guidance and continued in their walk with Christ because of his influence. His sermons, prayers, and quiet acts of grace left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Together with his beloved Rose, he pastored faithfully for over 50 years at Minter's Chapel and, most recently, at Christ Our King in Southlake, where their warmth and love fostered deep and lasting friendships. His calling extended far beyond the pulpit-whether through revival meetings that stirred hearts, quiet counsel that brought hope, or his steady example of what it meant to live as a dedicated shepherd.

Pastor David is survived by his sons-Timothy, Matthew, Nathan, and Andrew-and their families, including ten cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; his parents, George Leroy and Alice Irene; his brothers, George and Frankie; and his sister, Leah Ruth.

His family will carry forward his legacy of faith and love. Pastor David's life of service and devotion continues in the hearts of those he led to Christ and in the community he so faithfully served. He was a man deeply in love-with his Savior, his family, and the people he was called to serve. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
