David Wieck Obituary

David LeRoy Wieck was born on January 27, 1931, in Waterloo, the son of Hans and Ella (Wieben) Wieck. He went to country school through the 8 grade and graduated from Dysart High School. He then served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years. On May 5, 1951, David was united in marriage to Lorraine Schutt at the Little Brown Church. She preceded him in death on December 1, 1996. On June 8, 2005, David was united in marriage to Irene Knupp-Lyons. David was a farmer his whole life and also drove truck and worked in fertilizer and feed retail. He was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church, Dysart American Legion, and the Iowa Trapshooting Association. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, and spending time with his family. David died at the age of 92 on March 22, 2023, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a brother, Ernest; 2 sisters, Elsie Fehr and Ramona Seebach; and a son in law, Jack Bohls. David is survived by his wife of Dysart; 3 children, Barbara Bohls of Des Moines, Marvin (Vickie) Wieck of Brooklyn, and Arlo (Susan) Wieck of Dysart; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (Catherine) Wieck of Dysart. The funeral will be on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:30 AM, at the Dysart United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, prior to the service at the church. The burial will be at Dysart Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Dysart American Legion. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook at Dysart Iowa UMC.
