David Willey, 87, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
David was born May 3, 1937 in Detroit, MI and raised in Oak Ridge, TN. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1955 and attended Union College in Barbourville, KY before joining the United States Air Force in 1958.
In 1959 David married Judy Killian, his loving wife of 64 years. After his service in the Air Force, David worked at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, MD for 31 years before retiring back to his beloved Oak Ridge, where he lived until his passing.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Novella Bell Tatum Willey, and his father, Dorris Marlow Willey, both of Oak Ridge, TN. He is survived by his wife, Judy Killian Willey; daughter Cathy Willey; son Scott Willey (Karen); granddaughter Katie Jackson (Evan); granddaughter Alex O’Connell (Dan); grandson Spencer Willey; great-grandchildren John, Jude, and Amelia O’Connell; nephew Steve Killian (Julie); and niece Tina Williams (Dean).
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2024 between the hours of 11:00 - 12:00 at Mott - McKamey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Charles Mattson officiating. Graveside service will follow immediately after funeral service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
