David Williams Obituary

David Bernard Williams, affectionately known as "Cheese," passed away surrounded by love and family. Born on February 20, 1969, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Virginia Annette Williams, David and was lovingly reared, from infancy, by Wilton and Janice Williams. His nickname "Cheese" came early in life-he wanted cheese on everything, and the name stuck with him ever since.

A proud 1988 graduate of DeQuincy High School, David was a standout football player and a lifelong sports enthusiast, especially devoted to his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of First Church of God in Christ in DeQuincy, where his musical journey began at just five years old, playing drums in church-a gift he carried throughout his life.

David was a member of the Masons and retired in 2017 from Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a conductor. His work ethic was matched only by his warmth and humor. A true people's person, David never met a stranger. His practical wisdom and hilarious spirit made him unforgettable to everyone he met.

Family was everything to David. He remained deeply connected to the people he loved and was a devoted grandfather-especially to his granddaughters, who were lovingly known as "Pa Pa's babies." His home was a haven, always open to anyone in need. He and his wife cared for his parents in their final years, embodying compassion and dedication. David's passion for music extended beyond the church. As a DJ, he brought joy to countless gatherings, always focused on making sure people had a good time. He was also a talented cook, and his kitchen was often filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of his favorite dishes.

He was a father figure to many, offering guidance, support, and a listening ear. His legacy is one of generosity, humor, and unwavering love. David leaves behind a community of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory, his music, and his laughter.

David Bernard Williams departed this life Saturday, October 25, 2025, in a Houston, Texas hospital.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 35 years, Stacey Boyd Williams; two daughters, Shalonda Griffin (Alan) and Da'Stacia Williams; two sons, Dexter Norwood (Tedrea) and Jerrell Williams (Daysha); his mother, Virginia Annette Williams; sister, Crystal Mallett (Jason); six grandchildren, Trae'Jon Griffin, Jhreem Berzas, Ari Woods, Julia Clemons, Kadence Williams, and Kylan Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton and Janice Williams; and sister, Lisa Williams.

His visitation will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9AM with his funeral following at 11AM, at Bible Baptist Church located at 311 2nd Street in Dequincy. Pastor Mark A. Sanders Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.
