David Joseph Winters, 62, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024
at his home.
David was born May 15, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joe and Mary Lu (Valk) Winters. He
was a 1981 graduate of North Kansas City High School and worked for NoCoMo for 42 years.
David also worked summers for 29 years at the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone National Park. He
loved the solitude the park provided and met many friends throughout the years.
David enjoyed riding his bicycle, latch hooking, spending time at the Wesley Center, filming and
editing home movies, and his beloved Friday night pizza tradition. He had a gift and love for
music; he played cello in school orchestra, drums in a garage rock band, guitar, as well as
piano/synthesizer. He loved to record his music on the media of the day.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lu (Valk) Winters. Survivors include his father,
Joe Winters; sister, Susan (David) Scott; two nieces, Gretchen (Reed) Phillips and Emily Scott
(Alex Garnett); and a great-nephew, Henry Phillips.
Mr. Winters has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. A celebration of life will
be held at the Wesley Student Center (549 W. 4th St, Maryville) on Monday, May 6th at 1pm. In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to NoCoMo Industries: 319 S. Newton St
Maryville, MO 64468.
