David C. Wooden, a longtime resident of Acton and Boxborough, passed away peacefully on

Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the Rivercrest Care Home. He was 88 years old. He was the

beloved husband of Anne M. Wooden who predeceased him in 2021.

Mr. Wooden was born in Portsmouth, England to the late Charles Edwin Wooden and

Gwendoline Amy (Cummins) Wooden. He was raised in Portsmouth and India for a couple of years during the latter stages of WWII where his father was posted for work temporarily before returning to the UK. He attended Portsmouth College of Technology (now the University of Portsmouth) in the UK graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. The Woodens moved to Canada in 1966 where he worked for The Polymer Corporation (later renamed Polysar) and then to the Acton and Boxborough area in 1987 when he was transferred to the Leominster facility which was later acquired by Nova Chemicals. He retired from Nova in 1998.

Mr. Wooden was an avid Bridge player participating in tournaments throughout Massachusetts during his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips back to England and to Bermuda. He and Anne took many cruises over the years and also enjoyed time spent on Cape Cod in Hyannis.

David is survived by his son Stephen Wooden of Quebec.
