David Woolman March 11, 1971 – February 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David "Davey Crockett" Woolman, who passed into spirit at his home on February 10th, 2025. Born on March 11th, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Mike Woolman and Phyllis Thompson, Davey was a man whose love for life and nature was boundless.
Davey was known to all as a finder of things. Whether it was arrowheads, vintage bottles, native artifacts, bones, rocks, or other treasures, he found joy in discovering what others overlooked. The outdoors was his sanctuary, and his connection to discovery was deep and unshakable. His passion for exploration was matched only by his loving spirit.
He was a caring, kind-hearted man who always believed in the importance of compassion. He lived by the words, "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone that will do him absolutely no good," a testament to his generosity and love for others.
David leaves behind his beloved daughter, Sarina Jo Woolman of Indianola, Iowa. He is also survived by his mother, Phyllis McConnell (stepfather Stan) of Indianola, Iowa; his father, Michael Woolman (stepmother Mary Jo) of Des Moines, Iowa; his siblings, Jennifer Woolman of Carlisle, Iowa, and Bo (Jordan) Woolman of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces and nephews Madison Lohner of San Diego, California, Paige (Bryon) Hartzer of Pleasantville, Iowa and Miles Woolman of Des Moines, Iowa; step-sisters Yvonne and Michelle; as well as multiple great nieces and one great nephew, along with numerous cousins, extended family, and chosen family who will cherish his memory.
David was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Thompson; his grandparents, Doris and Marvin Woolman, and Colleen and Oliver Payne; as well as many aunts, uncles, and his first cousin Michelle.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared when available. Davey's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and the treasures he uncovered along his journey. Rest in peace, dear friend, father, brother, and son. Your legacy will endure, and you will never be forgotten. Donations may be made in honor of David to Sarina Woolman, donations will be used to sponsor a day to get outside and partake in a clean-up day. "The earth was not given to you by your parents. It was loaned to you by your children."
