David Alan Yost

Obituary
David Alan Yost, 64, of Commerce City, Colorado was born on August 24, 1957, and died on June 11, 2022, in his home. His parents were Melvin and Janet Yost who are deceased. He is survived by his siblings, Donald Yost, of Goshen, IN, Christine Lundberg, of Port Washington, NY, and Melinda Coleman of Boulder, CO and his daughter, Melissa Yost of Denver, and Peter Yost of Regensburg, Germany, brother-in-laws Bob Coleman, and Don Lundberg, sister-in-law Elaine Schertz, seven nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and an uncle, John Cutrell.
David was born four years after his next oldest sibling and seven years after his oldest brother and he got all of the teasing and specialness that go with that position. He was born with a congenital condition in his left leg which left it shorter than the other and with poor circulation. His mother was told that he would never play sports, but despite all this he competed on the gymnastics team at Westminster High School and excelled at it. He also loved music and chose to play the Tuba-a big instrument-and studied music at Western State college for two years. After many years passed without playing, he bought an old tuba last winter and started practicing again.
David was a person with a great smile and a big heart with enough room for all kinds of people.
David loved his two kids and helped to raise them to become smart, caring adults who are full of fun and love people, too. David was an avid dog lover, and had many dogs throughout his life, but decided that Corgis were the perfect breed for him. He found his best friend in his Corgi, Lizzy, and through Lizzy was blessed with her pups, Annie and Walter. He owned his own lawn care business, High County Lawn Care, for about 15 years. When he sold the business, he took to the open road as a truck driver for Swift, following in his father footsteps. He volunteered for about 20 years with Landmark Education. He also was an alternate on the Commerce City Planning commission. When he got his real estate license in December of 2018 that was his dream job come true.
The last 10 years or so had been very hard for David, health wise. His left foot and leg caused infections and a lot of pain and he had to have several surgeries on his spine, jaw and foot. He also developed a heart condition. He tried not to let any of this stop him very long, but eventually years of health problems worked together to bring about his sudden and untimely death. It took all of us by surprise and left many of us wishing that we had called and spoken to him one more time, shared some laughs or a round of golf.
David taught us to reach out to and look out for each other, enjoy the sweet things in life and live like there's no tomorrow. We will miss him so much and are grateful for our time with him.
