David Alex Zingg, age 79, was called home on April 4, 2025 at Tomahawk Health Services under the care of St. Croix Hospice. He was born on October 29, 1945 in Milwaukee, a son of the late William and Evelyn (Gallenberg) Zingg. He married Merry Hempfer on May 28, 1988 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau.
David was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army from July 27, 1964 to June 26, 1969.
A welder and fabricator by trade, he worked for Antigo Construction, having retired in 2008. He fabricated the cab for the 440 Train at the Langlade County Historical Society. After retirement he moved to Arkansas and returned to Wisconsin in 2013. After returning he enjoyed helping out seasonally on the potato farm.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, outdoor activities, and playing cards. He could fix and/or design anything.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Merry Zingg of Rothschild; mother-in-law, Margaret Hempfer of Aniwa; two nephews, Don (Laura) Schweitzer and Jerry (Judy) Schwietzer; three nieces, Debra Hoffman, Valerie Ray, and Veronica (Preston) Reidling; brother-in-law, Russell Hempfer of Aniwa; and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Schweitzer; father-in-law, Ralph Hempfer; and sister-in-law, Renee Nute.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home officiated by Chaplain Joe Bridger, MACFM, St. Croix Hospice. Military Honors will be held at the funeral home following the service. Burial will take place in Hogarty Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
