Dawit W. Eyob

Dawit W. Eyob was born on September 19, 1951, in Jimma, Ethiopia, to his loving parents, Martha Paulos and Woldehawariat Eyob. He was the third of thirteen children, and from the very beginning, family was at the heart of his life. Dawit peacefully departed this life on August 27, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia. Dawit grew up in Dire Dawa, where he completed his early education before leaving Ethiopia in 1974 to pursue new opportunities in Europe. In 1982, he immigrated to the United States, where he built a new life and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Columbia Union College. In 1985, Dawit married his beloved wife, Kongit Eyassu, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and three wonderful children. Throughout his career in information systems and data analytics, much of it serving the U.S. Department of Transportation, Dawit worked with dedication, integrity, and excellence. To those who knew and loved him, Dawit was Davisho-a name that carried warmth, affection, and joy. He will be remembered for his generosity, his gentle wisdom, and his constant encouragement. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and cared for, whether through a kind word, a thoughtful call, or simply his presence. His kindness, positivity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Dawit's legacy lives on through his wife, Kongit; his children, Lozan, Bethel, and Benyam; his cherished grandsons, Gabriel Menase and Elijah Eyob; his son-in-law, Henok Menase; and his soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Amber. He also leaves behind his many siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends across the world who will continue to treasure his memory. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dawit's life at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, VA 22032.
