Born May 6, 1935 to the late Ruth and John Guggolz, Allan passed away August 21, 2025, following a battle with Parkinson's Disease. An enthusiastic fan of a good tale well-told and an appreciator of a stirred, not shaken, gin Martini (please, never in a coupe glass), Al took a great personal interest in the stories and lives of others and never stopped asking about the welfare of his friends and family. An inveterate Brooklyn Dodgers fan, he was born in Queens, New York and enjoyed a distinguished 23-year career in the U.S. Air Force. His career included service in Texas, Georgia, Florida, Germany, Ohio, Montana, the Republic of Vietnam, Illinois, Hawaii, and the Pentagon. Al retired in 1981 and then worked in Capital Projects Facilities Management at the University of Maryland in College Park. Al was known for his amazing curiosity and drive. He was also known for his generosity, including through his service as Finance Chairman of his church. Al is predeceased by his son Rick, who passed away in 2017. Al is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Guggolz; children Gary Guggolz (Tara) and Lori Walther (Tim) and daughter-in-law Kelly Guggolz; grandchildren Bryan, Regan, Nathan, and Kyle Guggolz, and Brady and Madison Walther. Interment with full honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to send contributions to their favorite charity.
