Dawn Marie Cancro, a resident of Salt Point, NY; passed away suddenly while vacationing in the Dominican Republic on May 2, 2025; at the age of 57. She was born on January 25, 1968 in North Tarrytown, NY, daughter of the late James & Carol (nee Burke) Cancro.
Dawn attended Greenburgh Central 7 schools, graduating from Woodlands High School, class of 1986. Since high school, she was always passionate about childcare and working at several daycare centers and schools.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 1466 of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Dawn is survived by her two sons, William See and James See; her sister Holly Cancro and her brother James (Lisa) Cancro; her longtime companion Robert Hanaburgh and his four children and three grandchildren Olivia, Faith and Harper. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews & friends.
Along with her parents, Dawn was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Quinones and her niece Bethany Quinones.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Ballard-Durand of Hawthorne at 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5-7PM; immediately followed by a Prayer Service set to begin at 7PM.
There will be a celebration of life held for Dawn on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1-4PM at the American Legion Post 1466 at 50 Legion Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
