Dawn M. Chaffee

Dawn M. Chaffee, 72, of Noank, CT passed away after a brief battle with Pancreatic cancer on Sunday, June 29 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. She was born July 22, 1952 in Westerly RI, daughter to the late Russell and Elsie Foster. On July 21, 1973 at Noank Baptist Church in Noank she was married to the love of her life of over 50 years, her husband, Charles Chaffee Sr. Dawn had a beautiful, gentle soul. Her generosity and kindness to all knew no bounds. She loved gardening, baseball and watching the Boston Red Sox. But nothing gave her greater pleasure than being at the family campsite, listening to the sounds of nature. Dawn loved her family and took pride in being a wife, mother of three, grandmother of ten & great-grandmother of six. Effortless in being welcoming, she was the true meaning of the phrase 'all are welcome' and was well known to everyone as Mimi. In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by her three children; son Charles Chaffee Jr. and daughters, Tammy Chaffee Havery (Gordon Havery) and Amanda Chaffee (Taylor Salva); two brothers; David Foster (Cheryl) and Donald Foster (Kathy); her ten grandchildren; Taylor Chaffee, Gregory Chaffee, Collin Chaffee (Natasha), Elsie Chaffee, Alana Chaffee, Noah Chaffee, Aiden Chaffee, Gabriel Chaffee-Morton, Alea Salva & Amelya Salva; six great-grandchildren; Aria Chaffee, Russell Chaffee, Estella Chaffee, Finn Chaffee, Anastasia Chaffee and Bennie Chaffee along with many nieces, nephews and bonus family. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00PM Thursday, July 10 at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 (51 Williams Ave) in Mystic.
